Great insights!

As a person who started my own business and one who coaches others who set out on the entrepreneurial path, I agree wholeheartedly with hustling to create a financial cushion before you make the leap. Doing so will alleviate any of the natural fears that come from jumping in to the unknown. It will also help you to say yes to the right work instead of taking unfulfilling work to pay your bills.

Wow! Thanks for the whole article, especially the last comment! I just realized I don't want to get to the end and wish I would've done all the things I am interested as well. Way to get rid of all fears that hold us to our comfort zones!

Andrew - I think you have some really great advice for someone starting a side hustle while employed full-time. Savings is key, that way you have a cash buffer when you leave a job. Accounting is such an interesting profession, but there are many more things I want to do with my time. I have one more piece of advice that I'd like to add and that is "3) Create more time for your side business". I was about to leave my corporate accounting job but was able to convince my employer to let me work 75% full time so I can pursue other interests on the side. Right now, my schedule is to work 3 weeks then have one week off each month. This gives me plenty of time to pursue a transition to becoming a CPA financial planner as well as doing independent tax work on the side. It may not even be feasible for those in public accounting to work less than 30 hours a week, but if you don't ask, you won't know. I get paid 25% less but still am able to save a large portion of my income and pay the all bills. Life is too short to be stuck in a cube 8+ hours a day!
