I almost want to avoid scaring people applying for a new accounting position, but the quick assessment issue applies to accounting interviews as well. Since an interviewer already has your resume and the firm likes it enough to give you an interview, the interview is to assess your social and communication skills to see if you can fit into their firm.

As a result, many experienced interviewers will form an opinion of you in the first minute and the interviewee will spend the next 29 minutes confirming or having to overcome that initial impression. Therefore, you need to have practiced your responses to questions about your resume enough that you approach your interviewers with confidence and good eye contact instead of staring at your shoes.
